John Muir Country Park

Lots of expansive space at the John Muir Country Park, near Dunbar, East Lothian. Many of the trees in the forest (not pictured) had sadly been destroyed in recent storms. The landscape reminded me, in parts, of the East Anglian coast, though with more hills around and the monolithic Bass Rock on the sea's horizon. The day we visited, the sun was bright and shimmered off the wet sand and tidal flows. Ringed plovers ran along the shore in front of us. We sat for a while on the sand dunes watching and listening to the sea. Very glad to have found this place; we'll be back again soon.
