Three generations of my family lived in The Limes. I first saw the house after my Great Uncle Philip passed away. Only a few years earlier, Philip and his wife Rosemary had left The Limes to live in care homes, leaving their possessions behind. Through speaking to family and friends of Philip I hoped to learn something about the house, my family, and the way life has changed in the Cambridgeshire Fens over the last century.
The Limes is a self-published artist's book combining original photography with archival material and a documentary narrative. The first edition produced in 2018 is limited to 35 copies.
This first edition of The Limes is featured in the Artist Support Pledge initiative via #artistsupportpledge on Instagram. If I reach a total of £1000 of sales from this and other featured items, I pledge to spend £200 on another artist's work. The idea is to support artists struggling with a loss of income and financial stability during the coronavirus crisis.
The Limes also features in the Photobookshow archive and was exhibited at J Book Show as part of Cork Photo Festival 2018.
